Pilo Hotel: when vegetation makes a space lively and generous

The new Pilo Hotel with an innovative concept belongs to the Hirundi group. It is nestled in the heart of the popular district of Croix-Rousse in Lyon. This atypical space, formerly occupied by the former Truffaut college, has been transformed into a real oasis urban. POUSSE was commissioned to transform this place into a veritable urban jungle .

The space of the Pilo Hotel extends over an area of ​​5000 m2, thus offering multiple possibilities. This unique establishment houses a hostel, a locavore bistro, a restaurant, a bar, and a coworking space. It also offers various parties and events. Perched on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse, the Pilo Hotel enjoys an idyllic location, offering breathtaking views of the city.

The purpose of revegetation

The Pilo Hotel wanted to create an immersive experience for its visitors. The project aimed to transform the space into a true natural oasis , where abundant vegetation permeates every corner. The idea was to immerse customers in a plant environment, allowing them to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of urban life and recharge their batteries in a natural, soothing and above all out of the ordinary setting.

The result

POUSSE has transformed the Pilo Hotel into a lively and generous place, now hosting more than 200 carefully selected plants. One of the strong points of this revegetation is the 35-meter-long railing, entirely vegetated, thus creating a veritable hanging garden. The latter not only brings natural beauty, but also offers a feeling of serenity and connection with nature.

The play of shadow and light, characteristic of the Pilo Hotel , creates a magical atmosphere. On one side, the dining room is bathed in natural light thanks to its large bay windows, offering a panoramic view of the green garden. On the other side, perched on the mezzanine, visitors can enjoy an intimate and cozy atmosphere, surrounded by a small hanging garden.

This ambitious project by the Hirundi group has given birth to a unique place in the heart of Lyon. The Pilo Hotel offers much more than just accommodation, it is a total experience where greenery is used as a means of creating a living and generous space.
