    How to repot a plant?

Who says spring , says repotting ! Indeed, after the rest period, this season is the ideal time to repot your indoor plants . On average, you have to repot your plant every two years , because over time, the roots occupy all available space in the pot.

You will find below the different steps to repot your plant. But before you start, pay attention to the size of the pot ! Do not opt for a pot size that is too larger than the current one, otherwise the root system will become exhausted to fill the void. Increase the diameter by 10 cm in 10 cm.

    Let's go for the tutorial!

    Step 1

Remove your plant from its current pot . Avoid watering just before because a dry root ball is easier to handle. Bring a dibber or your little green hands (preferably with gloves so as not to injure yourself).

    2nd step

Break up the root ball with a claw or your fingers and untie the roots to loosen them up and strengthen them. You can cut the end of your roots with a pair of scissors to promote their regeneration. There you go, you have your brand new motte!

    Step 3

If you don't have a hole in your pot to let the water drain, you can put a piece of geotextile at the very bottom of the pot. Then add a layer of clay balls on about a tenth of the height of the pot. To prevent the beads from mixing with the soil, separate again with a piece of geotextile .

    Step 4

Finally, add a sufficient layer of soil under the plant so that it is at the right height before completing on the sides. Tamp using your palm or fist. Be careful not to bury the collar (area between the stem and the roots, often discolored). Finally, water your plant.
